Interesting comment. I think the key part is “If by Web 2.0, you mean companies that build an audience to be monetized by Google”

I don’t think that’s what Web 2.0 is really about. I like wikipedia’s definition of Web 2.0. User generated content and social netoworks are really audience aggregation tools. I do agree that then using google ad sense to monetize that audience is not necessarily a great business model. But that doesn’t mean that companies that use collaboration, user generated content and social networks can’t get big fast have extremely profitable business models and produce great returns. Seems like Sequoia gets this and KPCB is taking a different view.
